The Vadnais Heights Fire Department was founded in 1970 to provide fire and emergency medical services to Vadnais Heights and the surrounding areas. Due to the efforts of the department, the City of Vadnais Heights maintains the lowest fire rating in the State of Minnesota!

The Vadnais Heights Fire Department participates in the Capital City Mutual Aid Association. This is a pact that includes Vadnais Heights, Lake Johanna, Little Canada, White Bear Lake, and Maplewood. When any of these departments needs help, the others provide assistance.

There are two fire stations in Vadnais Heights, one on Arcade St and the other on East County Rd F. These two locations serve the approximately 13,000 residents, hundreds of businesses and local roads, including two interstates. The fire department provides fire protection, education and emergency medical response services to the community. They respond to approximately 1000 calls per year.

The Vadnais Heights Fire Department has 4 full time staff and 40 part-time firefighters. The department has 8 vehicles that provide a variety of fire-fighting and rescue capabilities.

The fire department is a fixture at several local events including its waffle breakfasts held twice a year in conjunction with fire safety education initiatives. They also host the booya and waterball tournament at the Vadnais Heights Heritage Days festival each August.

Parents in Vadnais Heights can make an appointment to visit the Vadnais Heights Fire Department and have their car seats checked. Their trained technicians will provide instructions on the proper fit and installation of car seats. These check-ups are performed Tuesday-Thursday 8:30 to 3:30. Appointments are required, you can schedule your time by calling the fire department at 651-204-6030 or you can make a request online.
