The Vadnais Heights Fire Department was founded in 1970 to provide fire and emergency medical services to Vadnais Heights and the surrounding areas. Due to the efforts of the department, the City of Vadnais Heights maintains the lowest fire rating in the State of Minnesota!
The Vadnais Heights Fire Department participates in the Capital City Mutual Aid Association. This is a pact that includes Vadnais Heights, Lake Johanna, Little Canada, White Bear Lake, and Maplewood. When any of these departments needs help, the others provide assistance.

These two locations serve the approximately 13,000 residents, hundreds of businesses and local roads, including two interstates. The fire department is a fixture at several local events including its waffle breakfasts held twice a year in conjunction with fire safety education initiatives. They also host the booya and waterball tournament at the Vadnais Heights Heritage Days festival each August.
